Thanksgiving 2011

I went to Utah for Thanksgiving weekend. I talked some friends into riding with me and stayed in SLC with Kristin for a night.
The Harris family is so large, we don't celebrate the holidays together like we used to. Thanksgiving dinner was pretty quiet with just my immediate family. Luckily, the kids are getting older so it's becoming more and more fun each year. I always love playing with the kids. They are hilarious.
What are we thankful for at Thanksgiving? Jacquie, age 6, came up with a pretty decent answer to that question.



And Davey, age 6, and Charlie, 2 1/2. They are thankful for their very cool dinosaur shirts.

Daddy's Day

My dad has always been a tough guy, as evidenced by this newspaper pic from his days as a firefighter. He went from firefighter, to paramedic, training officer, then worked for the state in public safety.

Three years ago he retired and began his own company, Milligan Educational Associates.
Somehow, during the past few years, he's also become a self- proclaimed artist and the grandfather of four. Not too shabby at all.

Happy Father's Day, Dad! I love you.

Memorial Day

Maybe I'm a little more aware of Memorial Day this year since Matt, everyone's favorite brother, has just joined the Utah National Guard. He leaves for boot camp on June 3rd and I won't even get to see him again before he leaves! I've never been really close with anyone in the Armed Services, so I am curious to hear about the experiences he'll have there. Landen/Sled, everyone's favorite cousin who works at a cheese factory, reports for boot camp just a couple of weeks before Matt. I'm sure the discipline will do both of these kids some good. Plus, they both love to shoot up stuff. ;)

Thank you to all those good men and women who have served and continue to serve our country.

Jacquie's box

Jacquie loves Dora the Explorer, so wrapping her Christmas gift in Dora paper should have been a good sign that I was on the right track. She was very excited about the box and yelled, "Look, mom. A box! I got a box, mom." It took a few minutes to explain that she needed to open it.

For a minute, I almost felt bad that there was something in the box. I worried that the present would take away from the excitement of the box itself. Luckily, she loved the Dora dress and shoes.


And the visit from Santa? My mom's side of the family is big enough, it took an hour for all the kids to get a chance to sit on his lap. Christmas was definitely a success.
